The Florida Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association has hired Johnston & Stewart Government Strategies to represent the FTHA’s interests during the legislative session and throughout the year.

Johnston & Stewart Government Strategies is responsible for overall consulting, strategy development, and recommendations for navigating the political and governmental processes on behalf of the FTHA.  The firm assists the FTHA in developing, identifying and executing appropriate strategies through which to pursue legislative priorities.  Their close relationships with, and access to, the Florida House of Representatives and Senate as well as the Executive branch and state agencies help to elevate FTHA’s presence and advance priorities at the state level.  When deemed appropriate,  Johnston & Stewart develops coalitions and works with other in the industry to mediate workable solutions.  In other circumstances, the firm aggressively works to defend or promote the FTHA’s platform.  Additionally, Johnston & Stewart assists in the drafting and coordination of legislation and amendment language, are responsible for monitoring, reviewing and reporting on proposed legislation and budgetary items during the Legislative Session, including real-time updates of legislation, news, press releases, calendars and committee actions during committee weeks and Session.

How to Contact Your Elected Officials

Making sure your elected officials know that, as a Florida Thoroughbred owner, trainer or industry member, you are also a voter, a taxpayer and a concerned citizen. Contacting your elected officials and letting your concerns be known is among the most important things you can possibly do to advance the welfare of Florida’s horse racing industry and help create a better business climate for both Florida and northern horsemen.
