Herb Oster was elected to the FHPA Board in 2016. He is 2nd Vice President. He also serves as Chairman of the Benevolence Committee and is a member of the Contract Committee.
Oster purchased his first horse in 1999. His most memorable moments during his 19 years of ownership have been winning stakes races in New York and Florida. His top performing horse to date was Le Grande Danseur.
Oster ran for the FHBPA board to keep the racing industry strong and to see that it continues to flourish. His priority is to make the backstretch a better place through benevolence.
Oster also serves on the board of directors for Take 2, which promotes second careers for retired racehorses in New York.
Oster was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He now lives in Aventura, Fla. with his wife, Margie. They have three children, Russell, Nancy and Michelle. They also have five grandchildren, Ryan, Sydney, Logan, Sam and Bella.
