Las Vegas Here He Comes

Bill Fuchs – Just Another Day at the Office

Bill Fuchs, a Gulfstream regular, took home the top prize in last week’s FHBPA qualifier of the National Horseplayers Championship. Bill bested 37 competitors to earn his seat at Treasure Island Feb 8, 9 and 10. A New Jersey native, he is a regular at Monmouth Park in the summer and can be found at Gulfstream during the winter months.
Bill entered the game as an owner back in the late 70s with trainers John Forbes and Johnny Campo. His best horse to date was a colt named Onyxly who was a stakes winner. Currently he has a horse named Madam Uno in the local barn of David Fawkes.
When he and his wife jet off to Vegas, Bill says he will concentrate on his task of “not embarrassing Florida’s horseplayers and not wandering into the realm of the casino. Those casinos were not built by the casino owners,” he laughed, “l know their game.”
We will have a follow-up with Bill upon his return, and wish him well as he takes on a field of 549 other top handicappers.
