The Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association will hold its Nominating/General Membership Meeting and Awards Dinner on Sunday, December 10.
The FHBPA will be accepting nominations for 5 open seats on the board. For more information on the nomination process please see the related story and Bylaws at www.fhbpa.org. All licensed Florida thoroughbred owners and trainers are invited to attend. The FHBPA will be honoring those who make a difference in the South Florida horsemen community.
The four chaplains of “His Place Ministries” will be receiving the award for Person of the Year. Tom LaPointe, Fernando Roman, Guillermo Fernandez and Alberto Grimaldi are being recognized for their tireless work helping those on the backstretch at Gulfstream Park, Gulfstream Park West and Palm Meadows.
Trainer Milton W. Wolfson will be presented with the Kent Stirling Lifetime Achievement Award. The honor was renamed this year in memory of the first executive director of the FHBPA, who passed away earlier this year. Wolfson has certainly made his mark, training horses in South Florida for nearly three decades.
The meeting is set for 6:30 pm on Sunday, December 10 with a cocktail hour starting at 5:30pm at Adena Grill at The Villages of Gulfstream, near the South parking lot at Gulfstream Park.
